Alice at the Library

Step into my reimagining of Alice in Wonderland. In this illustration Alice is exploring a library. Amidst its dimly lit corners and timeworn books you will find the White Rabbit holding his clock, hiding behind a column. He watches Alice from afar, lurking and waiting for the moment to approach her. There are mushrooms growing out of books and shelfs and chairs, some are covered in a glowing magic potion.

Alice is walking, a book open in her hands. From the open pages shines a golden light that reflects on Alice's face. The library and wonderland are merging into each other, portraying the magic that happens when we read and the power literature has to transport us to a different world, a different reality and even a different body. Who knows if our character's isn't actually Alice, but someone else walking in her shoes through the power of literature?

Chicken on top
of the World

Chicken On Top Of The World is a personal favorite. I'm gonna have to be honest, I just wanted to draw a chicken, on top of the world, of course. I picked the colors I like the best, warm tones and bright yellows and reds, the globe being the only blue and green contrast.

There are four pieces in this series:

- Chicken on top of the world

- The chicken

- The world

-Chicken on top of the world which is floating around amidst other big big spheres

Marigold, the Fairy

"(...)The little winged one,
With her dress as bright as the sun,

Decided to go for a great expedition
Finding her place in this world was her only ambition

And we're about to have lots of joy and fun
For our friend's journey of self discovery has just begun(...)"

A poetry storybook following a young fairy through her journey of self discovery. Marigold has just been born and haven/t yet figured out her own identity. Who is she? What does she like? What jokes does she find funny? What shoes fit her feet?
The readers are invited to join Marigold in her search and find their own answers about these questions. A tool for teaching kids about the concept of self.

Wanna Be Friends?

This piece is my attempt at capturing the feeling of befriending someone when we are kids. Just plainly asking "Wanna be friends?" and getting an honest answer, as simple as that. It's a feeling I cherish very deeply and try to bring into my adult life.

This illustration is an ode to childhood friendships and their magic.

Close your eyes
and observe

"Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Don't try to clean your mind or stop your thoughts, just allow them to come and go as thoughts do. You are not the person thinking them, you are the person responding to them. You are the spectator, the viewer to which every thought is neutral. Not bad, not right, just there. You don't have to form an opinion on anything, only watch it... come... and go...
Allow yourself to exist amongst the astros, the things that occupy the universe that is your mind. Relax your muscles, dedicate yourself to stillness, you're sitting on a floating rock, you feel it beneath you, it's warm grounding your body. There is no need for you to move, everything is already moving around you, just observe."

The Orchard

In an ancient, untouched orchard there grows a rare and magical fruit. The apples that bloom here are unlike any other. They shimmer with a soft, ethereal glow, and those who are chosen may find them suspended in the air, just beyond reach. These are not apples of temptation or of sin—these apples carry the essence of purity, the very embodiment of peace and renewal.

It's Not Up To You

It's Not up To You was inspired by the song Karma by Sarah Kinsley. I had this song on repeat when this piece was made. I wanted to evoke the sensation of trying to look for answers about the future only to get to the understanding that one can't control every detail of their own fate. The ethereal and surreal imagery of being engulfed by space and time.

In the song, Sarah sings about two lovers, one who believes their relationship to be doomed and the other who fights that notion at all costs. In the first verses we are presented with them going to a fortune teller in search for answers, this is the scene I portrayed in It's Not Up To You.
